Beginner's Guide

A well-made cigar will have a firm, even construction, an even burn line, and a draw that is neither too tight nor too loose. The ash should hold well and be a light gray color.

Use a sharp cutter like a guillotine to make a clean cut on the cap of the cigar, about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch from the head. Avoid cutting too deep to prevent the cigar from unraveling.

To properly light a cigar, use a butane torch lighter for an even burn. Hold the flame slightly away from the tip of the cigar and rotate it to evenly toast the end before taking your first puff.

Unlike cigarettes, inhaling cigar smoke is not necessary and is often not recommended. Instead, draw the smoke into your mouth, savor the flavors, and then exhale.

Yes, you can relight a cigar if it goes out. First, gently tap off any loose ash, then toast the foot of the cigar lightly before relighting to ensure it burns evenly.
